I Get Born
March 30

My-Momma-Banjo was a sneaky momma horse. Miss Pat had been coming outside every two or three hours thinking that My-Momma-Banjo would let her know when I would decide to arrive in this world. For the past two weeks, Miss Pat would come out every two or three hours in the middle of the night with a flashlight and look under My-Momma-Banjo to see if I was thinking about showing up. But My-Momma-Banjo would fool her. Every night, she would pretend every time to be sleeping or grazing, and Miss Pat would go back in the house with her flashlight.
Well, LAST night, right after Miss Pat had gone back inside, My-Momma-Banjo said to me, “OK, little girl. We have two hours of peace and quiet. Come on out here!” And so I did.
Boy was Miss Pat surprised when she came out two hours later! I was already up and dry and had had some dinner, and was already in the middle of my first nap. Miss Pat wanted to come and look at me, but My-Momma-Banjo said, “not so close!” So Miss Pat went back inside and came out with the lightening box and snapped it at me and here I am!
